Kyla Sims, also known by the pseudonym KMJ, is the author of children’s literature, Duckâ€™s
First Day of School and the young adult novel, Laws of Passion. KMJ has always had a passion for
writing. She penned her first book, featuring the popular character Duck when she was 7 years old. It was
not until KMJ turned 16 years old that she decided to pursue publishing under the advisement of her

she is in the process of releasing the next book in her Duckâ€™s First Day series, which follows the theme of
teaching children to appreciate the differences of others. When KMJ is not publishing she enjoys

conquer your fears with courage that just multiplies. In addition, children will learn to appreciate the

Duck’s First Day of Giving entails Duck learning the importance of giving back. Also, see
what happens when a new student moves to Barnwell during giving back week. Will Duck complete
his giving mission? Or will Duckâ€™s fear of failing prevent him from giving back to his community?
